Binge-a-palooza

My goal to break my weight loss trend this week was a total fail. I gained 2.2 pounds. I had a couple of mini binges this week and instead of making a healthy choice after my weigh in, I decided to binge again. I purposely went out and bought junk food. I ate it. I felt like crap afterwards. I didn't even enjoy it.

The past few days I've really struggled. A lot of it has to do with the uncertainty of my job situation. The motivation to keep losing weight and being healthy is gone right now. To be honest, all I want right now is a pint of ice cream and my Sex and the City DVDs. I won't do it but this is how I feel right now.

Don't have much else to say right now besides that I am disappointed in myself.

  1. i started weight watchers online a couple weeks ago to get a handle on the 30 pounds i've gained since finishing chemo (when i could eat anything and everything i could keep down) so maybe you could advise me and in the process get yourself motivated again?

my first question is how do you like to distribute your points? do you do evenly over each meal or less for breakfast and more for dinner? how much do you "spend" on snacks?

    To answer your questions...

I don't really distribute my points in any sort of method. When I first started, I basically had the same thing for breakfast every day and varied my lunch/dinner. It took a lot of planning at first to figure out what the point value was for different meals. For me, I am more hungry at lunch time so I tend to eat more of my points then. it helped to eat the same things for the first few weeks because I was able to get cravings under control and it was easy to follow the plan. I read a lot of WW blogs for food ideas as well.

For snacks, since the PointsPlus program I mostly snack on fruit and veggies so I don't have to worry about counting the points and it fills me up. When I do use points for snacks, I try to limit it to 2 or 3 points. Remember that you also have your weekly point allowance in case you need them.

I will try to post some information on some of the blogs I follow in the next couple of days. I just went through my reader/twitter list and am now focusing more on quality than quantity.

  3. Something else I forgot...

Whenever I am going to go out to eat, if I know where I am going ahead of time I look at the website and check the menu and calculate points. That way I know how much I need to save for that meal and also won't be caught off guard.
