Haulidays. . .

I have gotten these goodies in the past week and a half. I have been wanting some of these items for a while while others have been impulse buys. I only have 8 guilt free shopping days til my no buy is on again for the rest of the year and I plan on taking advantage. I already have another Sephora haul in the mail and am going to Sephora on Thursday to peruse the aisles. On to the make-up...

Urban Decay's Summer of Love Palette (swatch & review) - I didn't think much of this palette until I saw it in person. I have UD's Get Baked palette and have been using it a lot. The quality of the UD shadows is pretty superb.

Beauty Insider Birthday Gift - I am so glad that they got rid of the glosses. I was not a fan. This time around, the gift set includes a Sephora mini shadow in Aspen Summit (swatch), Nano Eyeliner in Silver Green (swatch) and a mini Lash Plumping Mascara in Black. I have yet to use any of them.

Nail polishes - I think these have become an addiction. I blame VampVarnish for all her amazing swatches.

Nars Purple Rain (swatch) - I've been wanting this color since it came out. And it was so worth the wait.

Essie polishes in Chinchilly (swatch), Lapiz of Luxury (swatch) & Mink Muffs (swatch). I went to Ulta looking for Mink Muffs since I saw it on a video by MakeupbyTiffanyD and picked up the other two as well.

Sinful Colors in Mint Apple (swatch) & Sephora By OPI in Caribbean Cocktail (swatch) - impulse buys :)

When I posted my want list, Stephanie commented that a dupe for Chi In Between The Sheets could be found at Rite-Aid for a cheaper price. I was able to get Periwinkle (swatch) which is gorgeous and also picked up Vintage Gray (swatch) & Shimmering Bark (swatch). One of the great things about the iPhone is that I can do a quick image search on nail polish colors while I am at the store. Thinking about it, maybe it isn't such a good thing.

Tarina Tarantino Eyeshadow in Cuff (swatch) - I really liked this collection when it first came out but once I saw it in person, I was disappointed. Only picked up this one shadow which I really like.

NYX lipliners in Dolly Pink (swatch) & Rose (swatch) - saw these mentioned in some YouTube videos and wanted to try them.

Prestige eyeliner in Black & Sephora eyeliner in Flashy Mauve (swatch) - impulse buys :)

I also got some perfume samples - Gucci's Flora, Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy & Michael Kors' Very Hollywood. That's it for now. I am having too much fun with these hauls and being on a no buy is making me appreciate the make up I already have. But I do love to shop!

Disappointed...

That's how I felt after watching the new Sex and the City movie. I am such a fan of the show and the first movie that when it was announced that they were going to do a second movie, I really didn't want to see it come to fruition. I thought that the first movie took care of any loose ends and it was actually a good movie. But after seeing it, my initial reaction was that it was a bit ridiculous, too long and it confirmed that a second movie was not needed.

I won't give away what happens in the movie but at times it felt like a advertisement for Abu Dabhi and the plot to me didn't seem to go together very well. I think the funniest part was Liza Minelli singing Beyonce's Single Ladies. And yes, the outfits were pretty fabulous and there were a few laugh out loud moments.

I would recommend that if you want to see it, you wait for it to come out on DVD. It was entertaining but in my opinion, it was not a good movie. I just expect more from the SATC franchise. I really hope that the rumors for a third movie are false.

Here is a clip of the Liza's performance. This occurs within the first 10 minutes of the movie.

Someone's been hauling!

My birthday month is finally here! As you know, I am on a 2010 no buy for unnecessary make-up and so far, I have made it through 5 months. I am still in shock that I have had so much self control. I do have a Stickie open on my macbook where I add items that I want to get at a later date such NOW. When I first set my no buy, I decided that I would give myself a break during the month of June. We are only on the 9th day of the month & I have hauled. Here is what I have gotten so far:

Chanel's Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle 05 lipstick (swatch)
Chanel's Gloss Fluo in Laser (swatch)
Chanel's Glossimer in Pagoda (swatch)

This is my first try at Chanel make-up (besides nail polishes) and I am really happy with them. I can see myself becoming addicted to this brand.

I also got the remaining Benefit Ultra Shines glosses in Wild Child, Back to the Fuchsia & Foxy Lady (swatch). That means I now own all of the 5 colors that Benefit came out with so ar this year. As you can tell, I really like them enough to get one of each.

While I was at the Benefit boutique getting my brows done, I checked out one of their new fragrances called Garden of Good & Eva and I instantly knew I needed it. The MUA also showed me their new Instant Brow pencil in Medium to Dark and I really liked how it made my brows look. I already use Benefit's Brow Zings but I liked that I could carry this pencil around for a touch up.

Sometime during last week while I was getting my lunch, I happened to walk next to a beauty store which sells Shiseido and got the Mascara Base. It's basically a primer you use before your mascara and for my lashes, it makes a difference. It makes them look fuller than they normally would. I've used this product before and wouldn't call it a necessity but it's worth it. It works better on me than MAC's primer.

One of the nail polish collections that I was really excited about was OPI's Shrek Forever. I knew that I wanted some of the colors after I saw Kelly's swatches and ended up getting Fiercely Fiona, Rumple's Wiggin', What's With the Cattitude & Ogre the Top Blue.

And last but not least, I have been wanting this nail polish color ever since I saw it a swatch of it online. It's Sally Hansen's Purple Pizzazz (swatch) and it's everything I wanted it to be and more. While looking through the display, I also picked up Gray by Gray (swatch).

As you can see, I have not wasted any time in hauling while I can. I still have 21 more hauling days until I go back on my no buy til the end of the year.

I can't find my digital camera + bad lighting = not so stellar iPhone photo.

And in case you are curious as to what else is on my list, check this out. As you can tell, I have a thing for nail polishes.

Abandonment issues

Dear blog,

I am so sorry for abandoning you for more than a month. I could give you many different reasons as to why I have been absent but to be honest, I have been enjoying the time away from sitting in front of my macbook. But I am back and will share many tidbits of my life such as wine tasting 4 weekends in a row (lush!), my first haul after a 5 month no buy, getting ready for my vacation and my disappointment with the Sex & the City movie.

Ta-ta for now...
