Is this too much make-up?

It's here!  My European vacation is this week (Thursday) and I am so excited.  In talking to my niece as to what I need to pack, I started looking at how much make up I was taking and thought "Is it too much?"  After all, I am going to be out of town for 16 days and there will be different events, weather conditions, etc to deal with.  Just like a Boy Scout, I want to be prepared.  Here is my list of items and I wonder if I am over doing it.

  • MUFE HD primer
  • Nars Sheer Glow (foundation)
  • Mac MSF Natural Powder (setting powder)
  • TheBalm Time Concealer (under eye concealer)
  • MUFE concealer palette (for blemishes)
  • MAC Fix +
  • Varius blushes : NARS Amour, Benefit Coralista, Illamasqua Rude, Tarte Fifth Avenue Princess bronzer, Nars Duo in Sin & Casino, and MUFE HD blush in Quickie
  • Eye shadow bases: Too Faced Shadow Insurance and several MAC Paint pots

  • Eye shadows : Tarina Tarantino's Cuff, MAC's Soft Brown & Urban Decay's I forget the name… it's like an indigo blue.
  • Eyeliners – Milani Liquif*eyes pencil in Black, Lancome gel liner in Indigo Blue, MAC's Graphic Brown fluidline, MUFE's Gel liner in black and several colored pencil eyeliners from Urban Decay
  • Mascara – Shiseido mascara base, MAC Studio Fix Lash & Estee Lauder mascara in blue

  1. it all seems pretty reasonable to me except woah that's a lot of blushes for 2 weeks.

and who really does their nails while they're on vacation? i'd just do a fresh mani/pedi the day before you leave and take only those colors to touch up if needed

  2. Yes, way too much! One blush and/or one bronzer. It's summer and you'll have a naturally sunny glow anyway! One nail polish (as Carrie notes for touch ups). Two lip glosses. One lipstick.

Most important -- HAVE A GREAT TIME!!! :)

  3. I've never had to figure out what kind of makeup to bring with me on a trip that long, only maybe a weekend or something. You could probably get away with bringing a bit less, do you have enough room for all you mentioned?

Part of why I'd try to bring less is because I don't want any favorites getting lost or broken or something. Plus I figure when I'm on vacation, I'm not going to be spending as much time on makeup, more time having fun! :)

  4. Marisol you are too cute. I have to say this is way too much makeup especially if you're gonna be allowing yourself to haul while you're there!!! I say one blush and a couple of neutral e/s. I'd do my nails in something neutral too so if it chips it doesn't show. Then go and find some awesome European polishes!!!! ;)

I'm so jealous, I wanna go on a fun trip too! Have fun. :D

  5. Thank you all for your feedback. I realize that my list is rather ridiculous. I won't be packing as much but I am glad that I asked.

Carrie - I tend to overpack hee hee

    Leslie - I definitely will!

SoVeryFabulous - I hadn't thought of that. Airports aren't the most careful with luggage and I would hate to have something break. Can you imagine if I took Pleasureflush MSF and something happened to it? EEKK! :)

Dionela - I will definitely have fun no matter how much MU I take.

  6. Haha I tend to pack a lot as well including MU. But I always ended up not using them except gloss, foundie and blush. Better pack light because you'll be home with more luggages! Lol

  7. are you going to switch between a few hotels during your trip? If so a heavy suitcase might not be the best idea (unless you're going with a b/f/hubby who carries everything and doesn't mind :D )

I'm always prone to bringing , pretty much the same as you on your list there. I did notice however that I actuallly don't find myself using everything I take.

This trip could be your 'test' trip where you can keep an eye on what you actually end up using and what you really don't...

I see that you're bringing shiseido mascara base... I am trying to remember, are you an old time user or did I turn you into it when we met?

  10. hahaha! I totally pack up the kitchen sink too when packing my makeup. But I'm with the other gals, I think a single blush and bronzer are all that are needed when traveling. I get into multiple shades more for eye and lip makeup. Have fun on your trip!

Wanted to let you all know that I totally overpacked make up wise. Lesson learned!
