Afterwards, we went to Cha Cha Cha and as always, it was crowded. I think they told us an 1.5 hour wait so we decided to hit the bar and share a bottle of wine. We got lucky with the selection - 2007 Zolo Malbec - which complimented our food nicely. We ended up sitting at the bar and had a great time. It wasn't until we were leaving that we had some entertainment that you can only get on Haight Street. Some random guy was eating his food in a very interesting way. He was not aware that the people around him were staring. Never seen anyone eat a chicken wing in such a way. But it provided for some laughs that's for sure. It was really neat to meet someone from the other side of the country by using Twitter. Goes to show that you can learn a lot from people from 140 characters.

Gals Guide meet up
Last weekend I met up with Leslie who, like myself, is a contributor to the Gals' Guide website. She was going to be in town for a work conference and we decided to meet up for manicures and dinner this past Saturday. We ended up going to Za Za Nail Spa near the baseball park and it was such a nice experience. I felt so pampered while we were there. We both had the Za Za mani which is $25 which I didn't think was too bad. Included in the manicure is a scrub and massage with this yummy scented lotion. I think my manicurist was using a honey dew scented one. Starting next year, I may go once a monthly since I really enjoyed the experience at that salon.

Channeling my inner 15 year old
I went to see New Moon on Friday morning. I went to a 10:30 am show and the movie theater was packed. I couldn't believe it. I really enjoyed the movie and actually teared up during the break up scene. The way they filmed the break up scene I thought was really well done. Jacob was looking pretty hot (jail bait!) but I am still Team Edward. I'll probably be seeing it again since I am meeting my friend Holly and she wants to go see it. I haven't seen her in more than a year so it will be nice to catch up during dinner and then see the movie again. Eclipse comes out in June 2010 and I am already looking forward to it.
I also saw the Blind Side this weekend and it was really good. It's based on a true story and I thought that Sandra Bullock did a really good job. There are some great movies coming out in the next couple of months.
Remember Me with Robert Pattinson (don't judge me!)
Dear John
Letters To Juliet
Invictus
Valentine's Day

This is what a make-up no buy looks like
Since the holidays are coming up, I decided to go on a no make-up buy a couple weeks ago since I have a lot of expenses coming up. Major fail. As you can see from the picture, I was rather unsuccessful. The loot includes:

Philosophy's Hope in a Jar
Essie's Winter Collection nail polishes
Essie's Marshmallow nail polish
Dior's Silver Purple nail polish
Shu Uemura curler
NARS Sin & Casino Blush Duo
NARS Orgasm & Laguna Blush Duo
Kat Von D Rock N Roll palette (free since I had 500 Sephora Beauty points)
DiorShow Mascara in Azur
Sephora Glitter pen (can be used on lashes)
Samples of Versace's Bright Crystal (2), Clinique's Happy, Dior j'Adore, Leslie Blodget's Bare Skin & Fracas de Robert Piguet
I really think I should crack down and stop buying make up. I really don't need anymore. My nail polish collection is getting out of hand. Although I did put two Chanel nail polishes on my Christmas list =)

Wish they could all be 4 day work weeks
This week flew by! It was awesome. I wish I could work 4 day weeks and have 3 days off. Wouldn't that be sweet? I am looking forward to this weekend. On Saturday, I am meeting Leslie from RED in the City who like me is a contributor to Gals' Guide. We've gotten to know each other through Twitter talking about our adoration for nail polish. We are meeting up at Zaza Nail Spa to get some manis and then going to grab a bite to eat somewhere in South Park. I've heard many great things about Zaza so I can't wait to go.

It's funny cause it's true.
The rest of my weekend I plan on finalizing my Christmas shopping. Yup, finalizing as in I am almost done. I just need to find a gift for my grandpa and one of my cousins and I am done. I am having the hardest time figuring out what to get my grandfather. What would a 97 year old want? Last year, I made him a photo book which contained mostly pictures of my sister and I. We are his favorites after all.
I was browsing through Cafepress and found this shirt.

It's funny cause it's true.

My other fear besides cats...
I have to get two root canals. F*ck! I seriously dislike going to the dentist and try to avoid it as much as I can. It had been 2 years since I had been to the dentist and finally found one in SF back in March. They told me that I needed to get 4 crowns since 4 of the fillings I had had put on as a kid had fallen off. I had no idea. I was sort of putting off getting the crowns for financial reasons and because I am freak when it comes to the dentist but when I went for a cleaning two weeks ago, I mentioned to the dental hygienist that I had been having a toothache. After checking it out, they sent me to an endodontic specialist and she recommends two root canals. If I get both done this year, it will cost me $3,000 out of pocket but if I wait to do one next year, my insurance coverage will kick in again for that year and I will only pay $1,100 for one and $350 for the other. I am seriously bummed. That money was supposed to be going towards my vacation next year. I was really hoping to make it to Spain in 2010.
I am having my first root canal on 11/20 so I decided to take the day off. Then it dawned on me that it was the same day that New Moon comes out. So, the Twilight fan (freak) that I am, I am going to the 10:30am showing of the movie and then going to my root canal. The anxiety over getting this procedure is making me nuts. I swear that the anxiety is worse than the actual procedure.
On a happier note, for the next 3 weeks I am only working 4 day weeks. This week I have Wednesday off for Veteran’s Day (woot woot for working for a financial institution), then the week after I have Friday off for my (torture) root canal and then it’s Thanksgiving.

Catching up
I can’t believe November is here. It feels like it was just yesterday when I found out I was going to LA for work. Now it’s been three weeks since I have been back. My trip was amazing. I had a chance to catch up with two friends who I haven’t seen in close to ten years. It was like no time had gone by when we met up. We reminisced about our college years together and caught up on what we have been doing for the past couple of years. I realized how much we have all changed and grown up. Before, our lives revolved around partying and having fun and if possible, making it to class on time. Now one of my friends is married with one daughter and the other one is a successful career woman working for the Special Olympics organization. I also had an opportunity to meet Carol Shaw (thanks to Lilan @ the Daily Cookie) who is the creator of LORAC Cosmetics. As a make-up junkie, that was a fun experience.
Last week I booked my ticket to Mexico City for the holidays. I am really excited about spending time with my family. I am looking forward to seeing my grandpa who is 97 years old. I am so lucky to still have him in my life so any chance I get to see him is something that I treasure. I will be there for two weeks and I am already making plans with my family as to what we will do during that time.
My Halloween was very low key. I spent it at my mom’s house. She had minor surgery on her leg last week and has a hard time getting around. I spent the day with her and ran some errands. Not much else is going on with me. I did buy some goodies from the Sephora Friends & Family sale which I will post later. Now, I am on my way to the dentist office. I may need a root canal.
And oh yeah, New Moon comes out in 17 days. Whoo hoo…
