Yes We Can!

As I watched the map below fill in with red & blue, I was so nervous.I was nervous for our country and it's people who perhaps were not ready for a black president. This election shows that America can change and we will be the great nation we once were. I was freakishly crying when I saw California turn blue. Not that it came as a surprise but it was the realization that Barack Obama was going to be the next president of this great nation.
I thought McCain's speech was graceful and I appreciated the words of support he had for Obama. Seeing Oprah and Jesse Jackson crying was pretty amazing too. Seeing them with the regular folk and all being there for the same purpose. Pretty cool!

I had these videos as a favorite on my youtube account and I want to share them with those who may not have seen them. Although I am not a citizen and was not able to vote, I am still proud to live in America.

Nas - Black President

Yes We Can - Will.i.am

This is our time, to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth, that, out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope. And where we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.
— Barack Obama

I also just saw the SF Gate's news on Prop 8 (same-sex marriage ban) and it looks like it may pass. Sigh...

  5. wow. thanks for posting this! i can't see the vids now, but i'll come back to check them out. i'm happy for barak too and hope that the hands of God protect and shield him. he has some major issues to tackle and hope that he succeeds in doing more than merely being named the first black president (a huge obstacle in itself!)
